blanc local password field now requires a password

    Hello,

a few months ago I switched from Win Vista ultimate to win7 professional 32bit.
My computer was connected to a home network with a server and data server, that server also patched me trough to internet.

since my computer support installed win7 on my computer , they brought it back to me, with a blanc password and my login name (lets call that sangetsu). i just had to click my icon on login and i was logged in and also had straight internet connection trough an ''unknown'' network. fine by me, just needed internet and office anyhow.

Recently my computer had an update and i lost all means to connect to the www.
so i decided to make a new username on my server, with admin rights and plugged my comuter back in our local network. on that new user i had internet connection again but no access to the files that my local admin had.

the problem now is this: whenever I try to log back on my local admin ' sangetsu ', which didn't require a password , i get an error that says : wrong password , even when the field is blanc. even when my new user i made in ADUC has all the admin rights possible, it won't let me share my previous folders and desktop, also doesn't allow installation of new software etc etc... I've looked on the net for a solution and my PC support that installed my win7 OS can't help me. what should i do?

    I await a quick reply
    thanks in advance.

    D

Hi, welcome to the forums :)

    You could try the following...

    1. Log on to the administrator account that you will use to reset the forgotten password.
    2. Open Local Users and Groups by clicking the Start button , typing lusrmgr.msc into the Search box, and then pressing ENTER.* If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. Double-click Local Users and Groups, and then click Users.
    4. Right-click the account that you need to reset the password for, and then click Set Password.
    5. Type and confirm the new password.
