    Problem with dsl connection

I went to my brothers and he has the same laptop as mine , an Acer Aspire one. He has a DSL cable but when I plug it into my laptop it wont work. I couldn't find anything on the operating system, in networking that would tell me how to configure it to work. Any advice would be appreciated.

Open a terminal window by hitting ALT+F2 and then selecting the 'run in terminal' checkbox.

    rm -rf ~/.gconf/system/networking

    and restart

Bugsy, I think that's a Linux command and does not apply to Windows.

jamtso, what does ipconfig /all show when you are connected to your brothers DSL?

Click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as show, including double quotes:

    cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

    and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.
