    Different Download Speeds

When I download stuff on my Windows 7 PC I'll get a max DL speed of 150kbps. I downloaded the same thing on a Windows 7 Laptop and got a Max speed of 180kbps.

The PC is plugged directly into the DSL Router while the Laptop does it's wireless thing. Any ideas?

    I pay for a 20mb/s DL

I have just posted the results from my wireless connection to the 'what is your connection speed' thread @ 19.6mb/s. I decided to test again on my wired connection and it's 7mb/s. I know for a fact I have had 19+mb/s from this wired connection in the past. I've plugged the cable into the netbook and the connection remains at 19mb/s so I know it's not the cable or router.

Now I have just disabled avast AV and I am getting 16mb/s

    I have just uninstalled avast:

    From 7mb/s ---

Avast Web Shield seems to be a transparent proxy for all HTTP traffic so kills a huge % of your bandwidth.

If you disable Avasts' WebShield, your d/l speeds will be what they should.. I have a 40mb line and with WebShield enabled, the best I could get was @20mb...

    Server bandwidth?

Or is it constantly slower on the wired? What are the speedtest results for both?

P.S Sorry for Hijaking your thread! :)
