Ping way too high Right now I'm running 7201 x86 and I have Fios 20 Mb download and 5 Mb upload. About a week ago, the ping started going high and averages around 500ms. Usually, it's in the teens, between 13-20ms. I don't play games online or anything that would cause the problem.
Any way to fix the issue?
Thanks in advance | My System Specs |

From the elevated command prompt, type
tracert www . websitehere . com
Try it with different sites. Find out which node is causing the latency and who owns it. I.E. Is it Verizon? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

this is what i got, and i don't really understand the results, but looking at the time, it doesn't seem like there's any problem
but when i do speedtest, the ping is always too high as seen on my 1st post pic | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 CPU AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H Memory 4gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 3200 Sound Card Realtek HD Audio PSU Stealth X Stream 500W Case Xion Solaris Cooling G-Power Lite Cooler (GH-PDU22-SC) Hard Drives Seagate 500GB 32MB cache 7200 RPM 3.5" Barracuda Internet Speed 20/5 |

That looks good. I wouldn't worry so much what the speed test says. Especially since pings don't mean much unless you're a gamer or there's a huge delay in getting to sites etc... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number self built OS 7600.20510 x86 CPU P4 550 3.4 GHz HT running at 3.5 GHz Motherboard MSI PM8M3-V (MS-7211 v1.x) Micro-ATX mainboard Memory OCZ 2 GB(2x1GB) DDR400mHz running @ 414 mHz Graphics Card HIS Radeon HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo HDMI Dual DL-DVI AGP Sound Card MOTU Traveler firewire studio interface 192 kHz 24 bit Monitor(s) Displays 22" widescreen Acer X223W LCD, 17" Compaq P75 CRT Screen Resolution 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitch Classical Keyboard 200 Mouse Logitech Mediaplay cordless PSU 350W generic Case Cybertronpc, it glows blue Cooling stock cpu fan, Ice-Q 3 gpu and system, many case fans Hard Drives SATA I x2 WD, 400 GB and 120 GB, SATA 2 WD Caviar Black 1 TB Internet Speed 1792/448 kbits/sec Other Info SATA II PCI fake RAID adapter, 1 GB Readyboost, original ATI Remote Wonder (even works with WMC perfectly), Logitech Rumblepad 2 game controller x2 |

yeah, i understand what you are saying
the issue i'm having is that this just started about a week ago, prior to that everything was fine
also, now when i want to go to certain sites, it takes a little longer than usual, but certainly not a big issue...just want things to run smoothly | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 CPU AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H Memory 4gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 3200 Sound Card Realtek HD Audio PSU Stealth X Stream 500W Case Xion Solaris Cooling G-Power Lite Cooler (GH-PDU22-SC) Hard Drives Seagate 500GB 32MB cache 7200 RPM 3.5" Barracuda Internet Speed 20/5 |

it seems to be working properly now
it appears that when i was messing around with firefox about:config, that was the issue and now that i reinstalled firefox, it appears to be working fine
thanks for all your help and i repped Dixon Butz, but couldn't rep torrentg as i already repped you before
seems like the issue is only with chrome as firefox works fine
Mods, you can close this thread as the issue is solved
