ICS between devices, having issues.

I am not sure if anyone can help me with this but here goes. Can't hurt to ask.

I recently changed my network around and have got myself kind of lost in the logic.

I am running PS3 Media Server in my network, from my Acer Aspire laptop to my PS3 Slim.
The network setup is an ICS

Dir-655 "N" router<-----WiFi "N"----->Acer laptop<-----cat5e----->PS3 Slim

I did this so I could have a direct connection between PC and PS3 as I stream Blu-ray movies and wanted the best possible setup to avoid stutter.

So, in Network and Sharing center, it shows my PC connected to "multiple" networks.
One Private.....the PC wireless to router
One Public.......the PC wired to PS3 (no option to change the type)

Now, I can get PS3 Media Server to show up on my PS3, but ONLY if I disable the firewall in Public networks. I can leave the firewall enabled in Private networks.

So I have the PC firewalled to the router (private)
and the PC not firewalled to the PS3 (public) This is what I gather??

With the firewall set like this, I can get internet access for both devices and I can reach the Playstation Network, and I can see and access the media server. As soon as I enable the Windows firewall in Public profiles, the media server connection drops.

Now, first. Do you think I am safe? Is there maybe a way to change the direct connection (PC-PS3) from a Public network to a Private netowork? Does it matter if I run it like this? My WiFi is secure, but I wonder about having a public network basically straddling a private network.

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me. If any more info is required, I can provide it. Sorry if I confused anyone, this is all new to me, and I was actually shocked I made it this far.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Nevermind. I had to tear down this setup in hopes that doing so would allow me to connect to my per this thread.

This ICS issue, is now a NON-ISSUE.

But any help on the VPN thread would be great and much appreciated.
