Laptop disconnecting

Hello, I have an issue that has been ongoing and I can not quite figure out the solution.

I have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router: WRT54G , Firmware version 1.01.1

I use a hard-wire connection to my desktop PC that has windows 7.
When I connect wirelessly to my router with my laptop, also running windows 7, it will see a full signal strength and connect but then it drops out the internet on my desktop computer. If I disable the connection, it will then work again on the desktop.

They do not issued the same IP address.
Any ideas?

Are your Wi-Fi drivers installed properly?, In my case, when I reinstalled my laptop load, I saw that Windows 7 installed a generic driver for the wifi, that detected networks, but after a few minutes, the device was disabled and internet no longer worked, I needed to install the WIFI drivers in order to get the device working properly.

Maybe you need to check if you installed your drivers, or if you need to update them.

See ya!!!

Does the same thing happen if you connect with another wireless device?
What if you do a hard reset on your router? This will erase all info, but easy to set up again.
Did you try using another Ethernet port on the router for the wired workstation?
I have a WRT54-GL, and have dd-wrt flashed on it. Works great, but I doubt that's the problem.
Yeah, let's do a hard reset on the router, turn off/on your modem, reinstall network driver per FerchogtX on both PCs, and see what that does for you.

Do you have iTunes on your laptop? The bonjour service will sometimes cause that problem.

My drivers were up to date.

I switched the ethernet port, and then disabled bonjour. I believe it was working before the bonjour service was turned off but I didn't bother to check first >.< But thankyou anyways, it works and thats what matters. If I have an issue again I will most certainly go 1 step at a time to try and figure out what EXACTLY the problem is/was.

My advice would be to not install itunes in the first place. It's the worst most problematic piece of software in the history of the internet. It's been the plague of Windows networking for years now IMO.

I've personally had to diagnose and fix this lame bonjour problem no less then one hundred times.

Heaven forbid that Apple might use a different or upgraded installation for Windows systems by now, it's not like they aren't aware of the problem that Bonjour causes with Windows networking.

In the article that madtown posted the guy writing it said this and I quote>

And you wonder why I dislike iTunes with a passion that burns like the fire of a thousand suns?
