No password for joining Homegroup

Hi Guys
Having a problem connecting to a Homegroup in Win 7. I had to do a system restore last week and since then I can not get connected to a homegroup that has been working before the restore.

When I try to join the Homegroup it asked for the password. I put the one I had before the restore but it was rejected. There is no "View or print password" button to get the password. Is there ANYwhere that I can get to that will show the password?

The restore was done on PC A. It can see PC B and can transfer files to it. PC B can see PC A but cannot transfer files to PC A. PC A has sharing and permissions set (I think). I have used the tutorials for sharing & permission but no go. It seems that I have "join" but do not have the password.

Any help?
Thanks

Working PC

Go to the one that is working and get the password from it. That would be control panel > Home Group

Mr

Hammerhead - Thanks for the reply.

Tried that and it's the same password from before the restore. No Go.

Might be easier just to have both PCs leave the Homegroup.
The, remake it and have the other PC join it.

This problem usually occurs when one of the systems time/date settings are out of sync with the other machines in the network.

Mr

Chev65 -
Both PC's have same time and date.

How does one go about leaving a homegroup? Then wouldn't I have the same problem with the password not working or do I have to create a new homegroup (how and on which PC)?

I have run into a similar issue when the PC that actually made the Homegroup was reformated.
I'm sure theres a way to repair it, but I find this way a bit easier.

Look Under:
Control Panel / Network and Sharing Center

Obviously, only the PC still in the Homegroup will have the option to leave.

Once both are no longer part of a Homegroup, Create one one, and re-join with the other.
(I would reboot after leaving just to be safe. Not that you really need to)

In that case you should go through my Homegroup trouble shooting list and try everything listed one by one. Hope this helps.
