Two wired NIC's unable to setup correctly

Hello Everyone,

I am having some problems, I have the following setup:

NIC 1 -> Cable Modem (Internet connection - works fine, internet works etc)
NIC 2 -> 5 Port Switch -> 2 Wired PC's (Not working - just unidentified network)

I have had this setup for a number of years now with no problem with XP but decided I would update my main computer to 7 ultimate thinking it would be easy to set the network back up (like it was in XP) and just can't get it working.

I have tried telling NIC 1 to be the internet connection sharing device, and still nothing on NIC 2 - obviously I need NIC 2 to be a DHCP server, but how?

I have also tried bridging the connection (as I see it though, a bridge is wrong for this type of connection), but the modem only allows one connection, and thus only gives one IP.

I have tried in Network and Sharing Center -> Setup a new connection or network -> Setup a network. This is the set (from memory) I basically took in XP, then it would ask which was the internet connection and ask for a few details, netowrk group name etc and do everything needed to make this setup work. When I do this, I just get the screen saying choose the wireless router or ap to configure and nothing listed, and next is disabled.

Any help is very greatly received!!

Thanks,

S.
