Unable to display internal web page?

I am running 64x Windows 7 with pretty much the default network settings using Motorola SB5120 cable modem. This is a 3 month old new system build and up 'till now I have had absolutely no network issues.

This morning I had occasion for the first time to view the modem logs which are accessed via it's internal web page at 192.168.100.1. The page begins to display but fails with a popup that says: "the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading". The modem responds properly to a ping to that address and no other problems are evident. During trouble shooting I confirmed that the modem is functioning properly by accessing it's logs via my laptop which is running XP so the problem appears to be with my Windows 7 desktop machine. I get the same results whether using IE8 or Firefox. I can't see any obvious problem so am turning to you folks for help which would be much appreciated.

thanks
