change your wireless security on the wifi... most new OSs don't support old router encryption... If you can connect to the wireless without security key in place, it's the router (you will need to flash firmware)... If you can't... then it's your OS/driver.
I can't find information about how to disable security on thomson tg787 but there is two other laptops with windows 7 at home that easily can connect to the wireless. The laptop nor can connect to other wifis.

Although its a new windows 7 copy that i have just reinstalled once again it must be the drivers then? Can't find any other drivers then the one that is windows update find. So Im kind of stuck!

Any other suggestions? Really appreciate all help!

Just because another laptop can connect doesn't necessarily mean it's the driver of the other laptop... It still sounds grey to me. It could simply be that windows update hasn't queue'd the new driver for your NIC/WWAN device, but it's hard to say... I would still attempt the non secure connection to garauntee we're fixing the right issue.

Disabling the security through the router:

from a working "LAN" connected machine, you'll access the IP address of the router.
This will be represented through the "Default Gateway" of the LAN adapter... ie 192.168.0.1 or similiar...

You can find this number by running "CMD" through the run line and typing:
    ipconfig /all

Find the Default Gateway and plug it into a web browser...
Standard username and password are usually "Administrator" and no password... or similiar.

Once you've gained access to the wireless network this router is broadcasting, you should see the main security page that will allow you to remove security from the network.

Actually the reason I was posting that screenshot and ipconfig was to show that the ethernet connection worked. But now I see that it maybe was unnecessary. The problem is that i also get limited acces and unidentified network when I unplugging the ethernet cable. Thanks anyway

Here is the ipconfig /all when using DHCP:

My networks adapters is listed like this in the device manager:

    1. 802.11n Wireless LAN Card
    2. Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)

It seems to me that the first one is missing some driver but when i try to update it through th device manager it says that the drivers is up to date. Maybe it is no windows 7 drivers for that card?
Nothing coming from the router here, most likely a driver problem or the router is outta wack and needs to be reset or update the firmware on the router. I assume that you used the manual wireless connection set up in Windows 7 and set up the connection as per your routers wireless settings, WPA2 and AES encryption works best. If you can give me more info I can help more. :)

if you go to control panel/network and internet/view network status and tasks.

then click "change adapter settings" from the left hand column. is your wireless adapter listed there? if so, right-click its icon and check its settings.

I could connect when I removed the wpa encryption. Seems like there is no driver that support wpa on this machine right now. Will link to the drivers that was missing if I found them.

EDIT: Well, the drivers was located on the ralink support page of some reason why I couldn't find them at first

    Ralink corp.

Anyway with this installed wpa works flawless

Thank you all. Its been a pleasure being on sevenforums. I gonna stay!

I have the same problem!...except my driver is up to date and working properly and my network and sharing center is completely empty...I posted a topic on it in detail and no one helped me at all. I really need to know what's wrong, its driving me crazy.

here's a screen shot of my network and sharing center.

I have tried so many things and nothing has worked.

What did you do when you first encountered the problem? A network and sharing center looking like that seems like some kind of bug made either a strange update or an error when installing windows 7.

Is the rest of the control panel intact? What happens if you restart in to safemode, same problem?

Try this command in a command prompt and then restart the computer:

net localgroup "Administrators" "Local Service" /add

I found it in a thread for a vista computer but it may work for you.

EDIT: We maybe should keep on this discussion in your thread instead.

Sounds good ImJustMatter, you must have had an old driver that wasn't up to date. Not handling WPA or the newer WPA2 means it wasn't up to date at all, although usually Win7 finds the best drivers, sometimes you need to get them directly from the source before they will work.

Have you tried running the sfc /scannow command at the command prompt? Doing that will usually find and fix any file corruption or missing files.

If that didn't work it might be worth while to run a repair installation from the Windows CD.
