We need a lot more info. Like your systems specs, what router, what network setup, etc.

To connect to the router you would need to first define the connection settings in the routers control panel, you need to set up the SSID "name of the network" and also set the router to use WPA2 and AES encryption.

After that you would simply go through the manual wirless connection set up in Win 7 and designate the same security, encryption and SSID as your router has.

Most ISP's do not setup this feature on initial install, so you have to call them and get a tech to look up the password and then setup the second part of the router, pain in the butt... or you grab a cheap wireless router and add it to the net...

i swear it is a pain in the butt.. i kept my security as "no encryption" or "open" still it says cannot connect to the network.

Do not use open, it's a huge security risk and Windows 7 has no problems with WPA2 and AES. Don't forget to create the SSID "name of the network" then define that also when you use the manual wireless set up in Win 7.

You can check the wireless connection credentials by going to the network and sharing center, look upper left and choose wireless connection manager.

You might want to post your router's make brand and version number here so I can make sure it's compatible. Listing your system specs will also be helpful to make sure you have the correct wireless adaptor driver installed.
