I just did the driver removal and it installed the June 2010 Realtek driver, which is the same exact one I am having issues with, as was the October(?) ones before updating it earlier. I also checked the BIOS for AI NET, and it is set to disabled.

just going to put this out there..

but have you turn off the power management on the NIC you are using?
if not, i think when it is left idle it will Disconnect you.. unless this is a random disconnection problem, then i would point to your ISP/Line Quality. there is alot of things that can play a part in connection dropping.. most of the time it is Router,Ethernet Cable,NIC card & settings,Drivers ect

if you can test this on another computer to see if it does this, then you could rule out the computer side, and the work on the router/cable ect..

alos you could try Opendns servers.

put them in your router and save. see if that is any better if you ain't doen this already ;/

I already ruled out power management on the NIC as I turned it off 3 days ago, as I went disconnect free up until last night...which was kinda strange if you ask me.

On the OpenDNS, I may give that a shot if the 4.2.2.6 and 4.2.2.7 DNS servers do not help at all.

Good thing I have spare ethernet cables to test this theory to see if it's this computer alone and not the router.

On IPv6, I may have unchecked it once..or do I have to uninstall it off the adapter?

And on that last option, I don't think I've done that as I may try that if all else fails.

Okay, a small update...the laptop ethernet connection did not drop, only my desktop...which means it is definitely isolated to this computer.

IPV6 is disabled yet I still dropped.

Edit #2: Did this at reply 1 to see if that helps at all.

Okay, after a week of no dropping, it decides to drop in the morning hours when I was asleep. Gah.

I am close to giving up at this point after all the things I have done to try and curb this issue..

EDIT: There was something I noticed but it has the gateway's IP under the DNS server listing..is that normal.

Going with manual configuration right now to see if anything helps...
