    Connected but cannot browse.

    Hi all.

Firstly, this is a post on behalf of my house mate so ignore the information about my laptop on my profile.

The Sony Vaio has a web shortcut button which allows you to start browsing without starting your whole computer. This connects and browses without issue. However when we boot the machine normally we cannot browse the internet. However emails can still be received.

Any ideas? I swear I've been through every related fix on every forum but cant find anything!

    Thanks in advance guys.

I'm not sure what the short cut button is but usually when it appears that your online but can't get the browser to go anywhere it has to do with winsock or the TCP/ip stack needing reset.

Try running this batch file which will reset winsock, reset the TCP/IP stack and release renew your IP.

It states that "No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected"

As well as requiring elevation, despite the fact that I am logged on with administrative rights...
