    Slow file transfer

    I have just set up my network again which I used to have on my XP pc and found the file transfer to my NAS to be very slow indeed. It took over 10 minutes to transfer just a 1GB file. Is there a way to speed it up ?

    The NAS is connected via wifi. My router is a Billion Bi-Pac 7402NX.

    What speed is the router? The older G speed? Maybe the new PC is connecting at a slower wi-fi speed? If the Router is not the "n" speed you may need to replace the router with a new N speed model. The new Dell probably has N speed capability.

    Run a link test and see what you get on that, compared to what you had with the old XP machine or what the ISP's rated speed is. Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

    Hello fireberd,

    It is wireless N. I have put my speed results on the internet speed page but this is it;

    Also, here are my router readings;

    I believe the readings are very similar to my old pc.
