Shocking Download Speed after Windows 7 Ultimate Fresh Install

    Hi Guy's,
Just upgraded my laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate via a fresh install yesterday, everythings fine except my shocking Download and Upload Speed in comparison with what I had before. My current downloads are crawling at 8.76kb/s compard with the 2mb/s I was getting before, I have tried updating my drivers and router software (Netgear WGR614 v6) but to no avail as yet....

    Help !

    Cheers

Here is what I found on this.
Netgear WGR614v6 slow? - Yahoo! Answers

To change the MTU settings read below.

First start an administrator console by entering cmd into the searchbox on the start menu, right click the little icon and choose "run as administrator".

In the console enter the following commands to change the MTU:

Type into command window "netsh interface ipv4 show interfaces" without the quotes. Take note of the id number of the wireless interface.

Then to change to mtu 1460 use the following command.

"netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface id mtu=1460 store=persistent"

The MTU settings also causes problems with wireless NAS shares not connection and timing out.

    Hi Chev,
unfortunatly that has had little effect it's still at 20kb/s a small jump but nothing compared to what it used to be on Vista, every since the upgrade it's dropped off, i've upgraded my drivers and everything aswell.

So the problem is confined to the laptop. If it's AVG I would have to uninstall it completely as it's famous for causing all sorts of problems with Windows 7.

Either that or the routers firmeware is out of date or the wireless driver isn't quite right or the security isn't set up correctly.
