Remote access to hard drive without needing password

    I have it setup for best performance that is why it looks this way. it is on a win7 Pro 32bit.

    Oh ok, that setting doesn't get you much unless your machine is really old and out of date. The Security tab should get you access to the drive, or at least it's worked hundreds of times in the past.

    After all this time I tried it from a diff computer and no password was required. So now i need to figure out why mine does require a login and password.

    I know you said its already on same workgroup but I would leave it and rejoin it with that pc just to be sure.

    I tried changing the workgroup names then back and still have same issue. Then I tried to connect on 4 different computers.
    1. Windows 7 home premium. No login needed.
    2. Windows 7 home premium. needs a login
    3. Vista home premium No login needed
    4. Windos7 ultimate needs login

    Ok figured out what the issue was. I had the same user name on the pcs that required a login which was on the PC i was trying to access the drive on. Thanks for sticking with me on this one.

    Yes that will do it everytime. If you use a duplicate User name one of them won't show up. Although that one is a little hard to solve from here when I can't see the extra User name. Glad you got it working david.
