    Network drops... only to me

Hi, I have seen various topics similar to my situation but nothing identical which do not offer the same solution (possibly..)

My problem is, I am getting network drops from 10s to a few minutes on occasion. I am wired to my router which is a 'Netgear DG834G' with firmware 'V3.01.38'. However my mother who connects through wireless has no issues at all. The issue is only present at low levels of activity, i.e. browsing, chatting... I think I have IPv6 disabled as it is unchecked on my adapter's properties.

I have the latest version of drivers on my on-board network card which I believe is a 'Realtek RTL8167'.

Also, I have tested with another Ethernet cable which gave no solution.

    Thanks,
    David.

Are you certain about this being the RTL8167? There are many realtek drivers but none of them with that number are available.

When you get the right driver number try the link below to get the driver for it.

    Hello,

Have you also changed your network cable-straight/patch cat5e or cat6?
Try a different LAN Port as well.

Uninstall/reinstall your network driver from Device Manager, then install the latest one.

    Please give us an update.

The network adapter reports as follow:

I will try to re-install the drivers through the device manager in a moment... I am currently using a CAT.5e and have tested with another cable with no labelling, so may be the same (it is blue if there is any colour coding...), so that may be the issue. However my setup was working fine for months, and the issue suddenly appeared, *slaps for forgetting to mention earlier* but there may be a solution still hopefully.

    Thanks,
    David.

Straight/patch network cable looks like this one => How to Make a Category 5 /5e Patch Cable

    Please give us an update.

    Sorry for the later reply.

I'm pretty sure the blue cable it a Connection 1: T568B

and the yellow is the same.

Have you tried both cables? Have also uninstalled/reinstalled the network adapter from Device Manager?

    Please post an update.

Hi Cold and welcome to Windows 7 Forums

Which revision of router have you got? Mine is DG834Gv3 and the current firmware release for UK customers is V4.01.40

    Yes I've tried both cables.

Need to obtain a driver first to reinstall them :)

    From here?

    RTL8111B/RTL8168B/RTL8111/RTL8168
    RTL8111C/RTL8111CP/RTL8111D(L)
    RTL8168C/RTL8111DP/RTL8111E
Searching 8167 or anything returns no results from the site.

    Thanks,
    Cold.

    DG834G V2 with V3.01.38 firmware.

Sorry, assumed it was V1 due to just DG834G being displayed on the router settings.
