ErrorCode 0X80070035 "Network Path cannot be found"

"Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found" when trying to access any network shared drives. Our file server is a windows server 2003 standard edition. This problem occured yesterday on my laptop with OS windows 7 pro. I cannot access any shared folders, shared drives. I cannot access my own laptops shared folders. I can see the device on the network and can connect to my laptop and access files on my laptop from other pc's. I have checked all the services required and they are started, netbios over tcp/ip is enabled, network discovery is turned on, windows firewall is turned off and also tried disabling the antivirus on the laptop but none worked.
Also tried the system restore, which did not allow me to log back into the domain giving error " Trust relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed". So had to undo the system restore.
Need a solution. Someone please help!

In general this problem is caused by Norton internet security.


The solution was simple:

I was running NORTON 360.

Under firewall settings; disable personal firewall.

Once this is done, access is allowed to the host pc.

You can then set your permissions, create network paths and map network drives like you would normally do.

Also in services, NETBIOS over TCP/IP must be enabled for normal network browsing.

There is no Norton on the laptop. And I did disable the personal firewall and made sure that the NETBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled.

The 'Source' looks familiar , usually that would be the resolution. There's something else goin' on then.

Try accessing the shared folder from the server this way=> Click on Start, run and type \\servername\sharedfoldername you may also sub the servername with the server's IP Address.

Have you also try disconnecting the mapped network drive then reconnect to it?

How about logging in as a different User or as a Domain Admin from the problematic computer? Please see if you may duplicate the issue.

I assume that DHCP is coming from the server and it's using the Server's DNS Address.

Here is the solution to "error code 0x80070035 network path was not found" on Windows Vista and Windows 7 Computers. Click on the "START" button, select "CONTROL PANEL", and go into "DEVICE MANAGER". Click on "NETWORK ADAPTERS", then click on "VIEW", and select "SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES". In the expanded view you will see a long list of numbered "MICROSOFT 6to4 ADAPTER". My Windows 7 Professional desktop had 200 of them. Right click and select "DELETE" on all but 1 of them. You can only do 1 at a time so it does take a while. When you have only 1 left, restart computer and enjoy being able to see your other network computers, including HOMEGROUP files.

With your post I could solve my impossibility to connect to network drives.

Was having the same problem and tried all the suggestions without success, my problem was simply due the "Client for Microsoft Network" being disabled somehow.

Below is what worked for me:

1. Go to “Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections”.
2. Right-Click on the connection and choose Properties.
3. Ensure that "Client for Microsoft Network" is Checked.
4. Then click OK!

I dont know how this was unchecked and kept missing it but once I checked I was able to map fine!

My Windows 7 Home Premium laptop cannot seem to make a connection to my old Win XP Pro system. It sees the computer name in network devices, but when I click on the name to open the shares I get the 80070035 error. When I look at the Win XP pc it seems to be able to find the Kodak printer which is wirelessly connected to the network, but it cannot see either Win 7 PC at all. I'm not too worried about the second PC as it is my daughter's school workstation, but I checked to see if I could connect to my old XP just to make sure it was not just my laptop that had the issue. I've tried all of the suggestions in this list and nothing seems to work. I've disabled McAfee, I've checked NetBios over TCP/IP, I've made sure that Client for Microsoft Networks is checked on both PCs, I've even changed some settings that made the situation worse and had to revert. I installed WinsockXPFix on the XP pc to no avail. It's like the PC is taunting me - you can see me but I won't let you in. Even my Belkin router to which the XP is physically connected says it is online, but still nothing. The laptop is using the 5GHz wireless connection from the Belkin and connecting it physically to the router is probably the only thing I haven't tried since it seems to make no difference for the other win7 workstation on the workgroup. Oh, yes, the workgroup is named WORKGROUP on all three PCs. Anybody have any other suggestions?

Now I remember, someone suggested reducing the encryption level on the network connection so that it would connect to older PCs. I did this and all it did was make it so I couldn't see ANY of my network devices EVEN THE SHARES ON MY LOCAL MACHINE. Once I reverted that all the devices and connected PCs came back but I was still not able to connect to the XP unit.

On the PC (B) that I can no longer see there are 0/none "MICROSOFT 6to4 ADAPTER" entries, on the PC (A) that is trying to attempt to contact the other PC there is only 1 "MICROSOFT 6to4 ADAPTER" entry. I have tried enabling NetBIOS to no avail I cannot ping PC (B) from PC (A). I have no problems doing what ever from PC (B).
Both are Win 7 Pro. I have no problems using my laptop (Win 7 Home Prem), wireless.
