WAKE ON LAN - Oh I really need help!

Spent hours on this and still no progress.

    1. Windows 7 Ultimate as the host that I want to start up over the LAN.

    2. Belkin router.

    3. Laptop with Windows 7 Professional as the client.

In the BIOS of my ASUS P5W DH Deluxe, I have both "Power On By PCI Devices" and "Power On By PCIE Devices" enabled.

Under Power Management, I have "Allow this device to turn on the computer" checked.

While I want to eventually start this computer from a remote location outside of my home, right now I just want to get it working from within my LAN.

My power supply is rated at 2.5A for the +5VSB. There is a light on my motherboard even when the computer is off, and the NIC also has a activity light that is active.

I've downloaded several programs and tried to start my computer by using its MAC address.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I can start my computer when in SLEEP mode by clicking the mouse.

My objective right now is not to start this from SLEEP, but from shutdown.

Can anyone think of what I am not doing correctly?

    Thanks.

    Maybe this program will help:
    Nyxbull Software

Just make sure the Win 7 Ultimate computer is connected to the Internet (via. Ethernet Port)

    Thanks Dean.

I already have that program, and Fusion WOL, and WakeOnLanGui, and mc-wol.

So it can't be the programs if none of these will turn on my computer. I'm thinking there is a Windows 7 setup issue somewhere.

And for the record, all my drivers are updated and tested good.

The MAC address is correct, and the FUSION WOL program also confirmed this when I entered the IP address. So clearly it can communicate with the card.

My computer will start from shutdown by clicking a key on the keyboard or the mouse, as I have all these enabled in my bios. So this tells me it has power, etc.

Do I have to do something with the router when just trying to do this within my local lan? I'm of the thought that Port forwarding is for when I will want to do this from outside my local lan, right?

    ??

There is an option that might be worth trying in the BIOS called Power On By External Modems in the APM Configuration sub-menu of the main Power menu. The default setting is Disabled, so toggle this setting to Enabled to see if that makes any difference.

Good suggestion Dwarf. I did try that but no change.

Tap the keyboard, it starts. Tap the mouse, it starts. Send the Magic Packet....zzzz..zzzz. No start.

Since this is a Windows 7 forum, I'm basically wondering if I did all I can in my Windows 7 Ultimate. If so, I won't keep this thread going here.

    Thanks.
