Networking a Blu Ray player

Hi, new to the forum and hoping someone can be of help please!
I just bought a blu ray player with an ethernet port. I have assigned the player an IP address, connected it to my router and it confirms it has connected to the internet. What I would like to do is stream .mkv files to my blu ray player from my pc via the ethernet port. I am running windows security essentials and the windows firewall, nothing else.
However, I'm just stuck as to how to get my pc to "see" the blu ray player. I can ping it via a command line but need help to finish the job off.

thanks, Lol

It's hard to stream to devices that aren't built to stream to. Does your blu-ray player have DLNA capability?

thanks for the replies folks. research has shown that my player does NOT have dlna support. d'oh! probably taking it back today and swapping it for a different model that does.

thanks so far though.

Bought a DLNA certified player. What a difference! Set up the network details, allowed permissions in MP, everything's great!

Thanks for your help.
