How to hide windows 7 computer on network

    go to the control panel
    network and internet
    homegroup
    leave the homegroup
    that should work

    It doesn't matter if you are part of a home/workgroup, the computer is still visible in the network list.

    To hide your computer from being browsed in Network Neighborhood, open a command prompt by clicking on Start \ Run… and typing the following:

    net config server /HIDDEN:YES

    You could always just install norton. That seems to always work
