Can we get info on the type of network? (ie DC, AD, etc)?

All win 7 machines or mixed?

Why not? What's the difference if the computers are visible?

Just go into the Advanced Sharing settings and turn off Network discovery and File and Printer sharing and also turn off Public folder sharing, you will want to do this in both the Work-Home and Public Advanced Sharing windows.

Turning off file/printer sharing won't hide your computers, it just prevents file sharing. Believe me, your files are safe from prying eyes, although since they are your computers it doesn't really matter...

Add one machine to WORKGROUP1 and the other to WORKGROUP2 and they will not easily see each other. :) -WS
