Wireless Network connected, but can only acess Skype online

I've got my laptop connected to the wireless network in the house, but I'm unable to browse the internet. In fact, the only thing that I've been able to use the internet for is Skype, and I've no idea why. Having browsed various forums, I've attempted to resolve the problem. I've tried using the Google DNS, which didn't work, used the flush commands for the dns, tried resetting the router and the modem and setting up the network again. I've also deleted and setup the network on the laptop again, but to no avail. Wondering if anyone could lend a hand, just ask and I'll provide whatever details I can. Other laptops in the house are connecting to the network fine, both of which are using Windows Vista. Thanks in advance ^^

    Hi,

Is this a recent problem? In other words, were you able to connect to the internet using the same laptop earlier?

Is this laptop using Vista, or 7?

It was originally able to connect to the internet, but is no longer. I've tried uninstalling updates and drivers that were installed since the problem arose, but again to no avail. The laptop with the problem is using Windows 7.

    Mmm.OK. A few questions:

    1. Has this laptop always had Windows 7, and was it connecting to the internet normally under Windows 7?
    2. What updates did you install to cause the issues? (You mentioned uninstalling some drivers....)
    3. Can you please post an image of your Device Manager, similar to the one below) showing your wireless adapter?

Laptop has always had Windows 7, is literally only a week out of the shop.
Updates included mostly security updates and Windows for x64 based systems, though did include a couple of IE updates. There was a RealTek driver, but that apparently didn't manage to install itself originally.

OK. What browser do you use to try to connect to the internet? Firefox? Have you tried to connect using IE? do you get the same issues?

Same issues with both Firefox and Internet Explorer, Windows Messenger and other applications don't seem to be able to access the internet. Though, Skype is able to use the internet. When trying to get the browser to work using the Google DNS, it was able to access the test site for it (http:/18.62.0.96), so there is some ability to access the internet, just not sure how to get everything functioning properly.

Ok. Is that the same firewall for the other laptops?
