Thank you for your reply I have tether working thru my BB via USB - I would like to have it work via Bluetooth. Do you know of any way to make this work?

Sorry for the other link not being right having one of those days, this one should be right now. It does say in it `now we cut the tether`. If not let me know the model of bb and phone network and I`ll see what I can find.

Thanks drone, but I couldn't get it to work. In fact, my BB froze up at "connecting to desktop" and I had to pop the battery.

Did you try it again after you put the battery back in? What model bb & phone network are you on?

No, I didn't get a chance to try again after I put the battery back in, but had to pop the battery again after awhile - got the same message "connecting desktop".

I have a BB Curve 8330 with MTS (Manitoba Telephone System).

    Cut the tether

    Hi Drone,
Just read over the instructions again and can't find anything about cutting the tether except in the preamble.

Also, I have Windows 7 Home Premium - not Vista or XP.

    Just for your info.

Hi Vista & Windows 7 are virtually the same thing when it comes to this. That`s why Vista drivers usually, there`s always one, work properly on 7 if you can`t find a Windows 7 driver.

Step 4 in the link mentions the Bluetooth modem. It does say turn off encryption on the BB then have the laptop find the phone first, set the laptop part up then setup the BB.

Found this on RIM`s website about setting up the Bluetooth modem.

KB12544-Connect a computer to the Internet using a BlackBerry smartphone as a Bluetooth IP Modem

If none of that helps then maybe someone on this bb forum can help

Hope this helps you get this sorted out as I`m out of ideas, I`m sorry to say. The only consolation is that using the USB cable is quicker if you can`t get this working.
