    File sharing over network help

Is there anyone who could help me with this

I've bought an aver revo pc to use as a media centre and have installed xmbc in it

My problem is even though I have specified which files I want to share over the network I'm getting an error asking for a user name and password on the revo

It looks like my windows 7 pc has some sort of password on my files??

Is there any way to make sure I can share all my files with no restriction on them?

Go in Network and Sharing Center, on the top left, select 'Change Advanced Sharing settings'.
You will find a setting to turn off password protected sharing...

I will be following this thread for an answer because i have a similar issue with my networking, I too have configured my desktop pc (running 7pro) for home network sharing and disabled the password. yet when i try and file share using my laptop i am asked for a password???? I tried the password that W7 volunteers for sharing but to no avail.

Hang on! in order to file share with other computers in the house, do they all have to use "Homegroup" right?? but that means that only windows 7 computers can participate in the sharing.! surely not!!!!

EDIT...> I apologise for the thread jacking ill go start a new one
