Windows 7 - Keeping the same IP Address

I used to have my IP address the same (192.168.0.103)

Now as I've done a reinstall of windows its gone to 101

I have a feeling I have to change the settings in the picture just can't remember what to change it to. (wanting to make it back to 103)

Hi,

I have a feeling your ISP assigns dynamic IP's, and not static ones. To check this, note your IP address, turn off your router, turn it back on, and then check your IP address again.

I'm not sure if you can actually change it to a static one, but perhaps one of the networking guru's could reply concerning that.

It all depends....do you have a router in your house that you are connected to? If you are getting the DHCP address from yourself (or from your own network), you certainly could change it (as long as nothing in your house has that address).

Well as I said I've changed it in the past. When I was on wireless I set it up, now use wired.

Yes a router in the house.And the IP use to change often and automatically so probably still does now

You can either set a static IP that is outside of the DHCP range of the router, or you can configure the router to always assign the same IP address to your computer. I recommend doing the second method.

Well actually the IP has stayed on .101 so all fine

Just had to change port forwarding settings
