Homegroup SOMETIMES drops 1 PC 1 way

I have a problem with "Homegroup". I have 2 PC's hard wired to a router. For the past year, (until about a month ago), I had no problem connecting to each PC. I now get the following message when I try to connect to my wife's PC:

Windows cannot access \\CONNIE-PC Check the spelling of the name........etc
"Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found."

SHE NEVER HAS A PROBLEM CONNECTING WITH MY PC.
Neither of us has ANY problems with internet connections.

Things I have tried: I have run SFC /scannow - nothing
I have run chkdsk - nothing
I have done system restore (2 different dates before the problem) - nothing
I have run the HomeGroup troubleshooter - (only get the above message)
I have "unjoined", then rejoined the Homegroup - nothing
I have checked each PC for "correct" sharing & security settings
I have checked the drivers of each network adapter - (current)
I have checked that HomeGroup Listener & Provider is running on each PC
I run both SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes each night
I can ping each PC using name & address
I can see the name of each PC under Network in windows explorer
Both PC's are Win 7 HP (her's 64bit & mine 32bit). Both using MS firewall and MSE
Neither PC has a change of IP address

The ONLY way to get my PC to connect to her is for each of us to "leave" the homegroup and for me to "start" a NEW Homegroup. The weird thing is that this ONLY WORKS FOR A FEW DAYS (from 1 to 4 days) and then I have to do it over again.

For what its worth, a few weeks ago while I had the 'access' problem, we had a interruption of our cable connection for about an hour. When the cable connection came back on the 'access' problem was gone. Something reset but I don't know what nor on who's PC.

    Anybody have ANY ideas?

    Thanks for any help.

The following procedure can sometimes fix this problem.
Click on the Windows 7 Start button.
Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
    Restart the computer.

Chev65 - Tried your suggestion and it seems to work. Hopefully it will last longer than just a few days. If I have a problem I'll let you know.

    Thanks much

OK. Problem started again after only 1 and a half days. My PC cannot "access" my wife's PC BUT her PC has no trouble connecting to mine. Both PC's have internet access. All "repairs and suggestions" only seem to work for a day or 2.

    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

It sounds like something is corrupting either winsock or the TCP/ip stack. I have an idea of what this might be.

Can your post your ipconfig /all here from the problem machine?

Chev65 - Thanks for your reply. I have been trying to get the info for you but I have forgotten how to get the the screen from just doing a "flash".

I put "ipconfig /all" in the 'run' box but when I hit enter the screen just flashes before I can even read it. I know I used to be able to have it stay open.

Can you give me a hint?

When you get to the run box type cmd then hit enter. Then you can type ipconfig /all into the dos command prompt which will show your ip configuration.

I would use the snipping tool to capture it and save the screen shot so you can post it here.

I'm pretty sure you have the tunnel adaptor problem which can stop you from connecting to the internet and can also prevent sharing from working correctly.

A network driver update is usually required to fix that problem for good but I really need to see the ipconfig /all to be sure about this. :)

    Mr

Update - A few days ago I "closed" my Homegroup, (by 'leaving' homegroup on both PC's). I then started a Workgroup. I was a happy camper until this AM. I got the following when I tried to connect to my wife's PC.

Could this be happening because of a "bad" network adapter? I have checked on Realtek site and they say I have the most current driver.

    Thanks for any help.
