Connected but no internet (wireless - wired is fine)

I have an Acer laptop (Windows 7) and SMC router.

The laptop connects to the wireless network but it says 'no internet access'. Troubleshooting nets me the information that "the DNS Server isn't responding".

    • The laptop can easily connect to the internet via ethernet.
    • It also connects wirelessly without issue to my phone's hotspot.
    • I have other computers that connect wirelessly through the SMC router to the internet without issue.
    • The laptop used to connect to the internet wirelessly through this same router. I did not use the laptop for a couple of weeks and when I fired it up again the wireless would not go to the internet.

To recap, there is nothing wrong with the wireless adapter on the laptop. The router's wireless network is fine and dandy.

So how can I get the laptop to understand the wireless signal is fine so connect to the internet already?

A friend who reads my online journal, suggested winsockfix. My laptop is 64-bit and winsockfix complained loudly that it did not work at 64-bit. I tapped the options anyway and soon it said to reboot and when I did, all was magically fixed!
