I had already run troubleshoot to no avail. It says it tested the connection and verified I'm able to access some websites.

Mike C- Thank you. I will do it now...
That looks good. I suspected the IPv6 to be in the way, but it is not. Greg (an expert) is probably on the right track. It may be a HP add-on that does it to you.

Have a look here;

HP Getting connected with mobile broadband

Play this HP tutorial on broadband connections; ( It's twelve pages, flip them by pressing "Next" on the lower right )

Getting connected with mobile broadband

HP can be a bit of a pain with some stuff, as gregrocker pointed out.

But there can also be other reasons for slow connections.

I don't understand. There is something that just isn't right though. Pages that loaded on my old Dell or the new eMachine I had for a week would take 5 seconds. On this brand new PC it takes 3 to 5 minutes, if it fully loads at all. The firefox download took 30 seconds on my eMachine... it took 5 minutes with this new HP.

If this is the deal with HP, I just might have to return it to BestBuy. Is that what you would suggest?

*Sigh*

Let's see if we can find the problem first. There is always a reason for these things.

Your internet connection speed is adequate, so it must be something on the machine which is slowing things down. This is actually fairly common with a few "Brand Name" PC's, there is so much stuff they pre-install that is fairly useless.

We just need to find out what it is and remove it.

Go to "Control Panel" from your start menu.

Choose "Programs and Features"

scroll down until you find "HP Connection Manager", ( or a similar entry ). Click on it, and choose "uninstall".

This may solve your problems immediately, as this connection manager is known to cause a number of problems.

What you need to do is connect directly to your internet connection, without the HP stuff.

You can do this directly under windows, without the HP software.

Thanks Mike... I couldn't figure out exactly what Greg was telling me to do. I was trying to find connection manager... did not know it was an "uninstall". Thanks for the clarification!

It almost acts like your wireless is competing for connection

Can you use the snipping tool to post your network properties ?

Run your mouse over the devices which are starting with the computer in the bottom right System Tray until you find the HP Connection Manager, double click or right click it to open, find where to turn it off and default to Windows connection manager.

Every model is slightly different and the newest models may have modified it as it has issues known to HP.

There is no modem recognized anywhere... there is no modem tab in device manager, nor a modem under network adapters or other devices. But I have Internet connection. I have tried to go to ubeeinteractive.com to download driver to make sure I have latest, but having trouble with that.
