The problem I see is that in the first ipconfig it shows 0.0.0.0 for your default gateway then under that it shows the default gateway, I'm not sure if you typed that in or not.
It shows up that way. I just typed the underlines to align it where it was in the command prompt window. This forum removes leading blanks so it appeared to far left in forum post.

after disable/enable, the 0.0.0.0 is gone.

I'm not sure why it's doing that but you might try typing in the default gateway of 10.0.0.2 manually into your IPv4 properties to go around the problem.
Just to clarify. The "good" computer is 10.0.0.4, the problem computer is 10.0.0.2, and the gateway is 10.0.0.1. But I'll try the approach.

It also might help to flush the IP and reset everything.
Not completely sure what you mean. I did reboot the modem/radio unit (a Ubiquiti Nanstation2) and the router (Netgear RP614v4).
If you are showing 0.0.0.0 that is the problem in a nutshell as I mentioned before. This can either be a driver problem or a problem with your router, it's hard to say for sure.

Undating your network driver or going around the problem by typing the default gateway into your IPv4 properties might get you around the problem for now.

Having the bonjour service installed can also create sometimes create this problem.

The file I posted can fix many types of network problems, it also eliminates some of the guess work as to what the problem might be. As I mentioned before the file will reset winsock, reset the TCP/IP stack and release renew your IP, it goes a step beyond resetting your router and resets the entire network stack and renew's youp IP, simple as that. :)

It fixes problems all the time and you should run it, it's perfectly safe.

Just out of curiosity do you have something installed called Bonjour? There are issues where certain software especially bonjour can cause that exact issue, the double gateway address, which is what is breaking your internet.
It was there. I am familiar with bonjour and the way it keeps getting installed, but had not seen it since switching from XP to 7. It had faded in memory.

I killed it the same way I did in XP. I open Services from computer management (also in admin tools ) then disable the bonjour service.

The puzzle is why now. From program folder dates it was likely installed with Photoshop CS3 last November - time is right in the middle of the PSCS3 times. But the problem didn't start until Jan 16. I can't see anything obviously correlated in event logs or program installation dates or windows updates.

The other computer has photoshop CS5 on it but no bonjour.

By the way in program files (x86) the folder is actually named Bonjour. Only the service has the cryptic name.

Anyway it seems to be fixed. Thanks.

I tried looking for Bonjour first, so I didn't need to try the batch file. I will save it though.

That captcha is tough even for humans. Had to try three times.

You can also uninstall bonjour with Revo Uninstaller. There is a free version that will do most jobs.

I am running Windows 7-64 bit. My internet access is via LAN cable connected to a Lynksys router. After boot, the "connection" icon (lower right of screen) indicated a connection, but IE would not connect. I could force a connection by disabling and re-enabling my Network Adapters using the Device Manager.

'From previous posts I suspected the "Bonjour Service". By changing the Startup Type of "Bonjour Service" from "Automatic" to "Automatic (Delayed Start)" fixed the problem. Here is the click sequence:

    Control Panel-System and Security-Administrative Tools-Component Services (local)-Bonjour Service.

Right click on Bonjour Service, then select "Properties".
Under the General Tab change the "Startup Type" selection to "Automatic (Delayed Start)"

    Close everything up and reboot.

This fix has survived several reboots, including a week of overnight shut downs.
