    Internet / Network Issue

Hi, I'm new here so I'll try to be as detailed as I can.

I am running a Win7 x64 Ultimate desktop, with a powerline adapter through to a Linksys RangePlus router. I have absolutely no way to connect this computer with a long cat5/6 cable to the router, so I must use the PL. I have not had any issues with powerline adapter to my knowledge (all lights are on and normal). When I boot my computer, the network is detected and everything is fine. Today (and one time two days ago) all of a sudden the network simply dissapeared. All connections disappeared. I tried resetting the ip address through cmd and that did not work. The Network and Sharing Center seemed to indicate it couldn't even find my "home" network. I checked through the event logs for any entries with the exact time stamp I noticed the problem at, however I'm not sure what to make of them (or if it is the correct information). The Event log seemed to indicate that I could not obtain an IP address, and that the DNS servers were having issues (or unavailable) and yet when I called my ISP they report that everything is fine. I have another computer in the same room as the router (also connected to the router) and that seemingly never has problems.

I've just power cycled both my modem AND router and its working fine now (as I type this) however I'm not sure what to do if this happens a third time. Twice is too often.

    I would appreciate any help,
    Thanks so much.

Also: I have been using powerline adapters for about 6 years; I recently replaced an old Netgear XE102 set with a set of Netgear XAVB2001 Adapters and have had no issues until two days ago as mentioned.

My first guess at this would be that the powerline adaptors had received a power spike and this has disrupted the connection to the router. You could try adding a surge suppresor to both powerline adaptors.

Thats a good idea but the Powerline Adapters need to be plugged into an outlet not a surge protector or strip. I'm almost positive this issue isn't related to the adapters, but I appreciate your input just the same :)
