I have a homegroup that I have setup with 3 systems.
System 1 is a HTPC running windows 7 home premium
System 2 is a netbook running windows 7 home premium
System 3 is a netbook running windows 7 home premium
I have the HTPC setup to record TV and it works fine when watching the TV on the actual PC. I want to be able to play these files from my netbooks so I created a homegroup. At the time I only had one netbook and htpc and the streaming worked great from windows media player. I would open the library on the HTPC, choose Recorded TV, All TV, then the show I wanted to watch. Since then it has quit working for reasons beyond me. I could see the recorded TV but when I clicked on the files it would say it could not play the file.
I had a bunch of issues with the HTPC so I figured it must be related to a corrupt windows 7 upgrade (or something). I have since acquired another netbook and decided that I needed to get the streaming of Recorded TV to work. I rebuilt the HTPC from scratch. Fresh OS install. I recorded a 15 second clip Judge Joe Brown as soon as I had it all set it up again. IT WORKED! I could stream to my new netbook just fine. I was so happy. I finished setting it all up and recorded an entire episode of jersey shore. Later that night I decided to test the streaming, and found that it wouldn't play the episode. It just hangs on "Changing Media". The program does NOT become unresponsive, it just never actuallly starts playing. I tried playing thel "judge joe brown" clip again and it won't play either.
Anyone have any ideas what is going on?
