    File transfers hog all bandwidth

Hello is there anyway to limit file transfer speed on the local area network (not the wan port)? I have a tv tuner farm on my server wich I use to stream live tv to other computers on network. Problem is when I start a file transfer it maxs my connection leaving tv unwatchable. I am running windows 7 hp and have a wired gigabit network. Thenks in advance. cheers

It should just be a matter of looking at the manual again and knowing the ip addresses of whatever you have plugged in.

not sure if this will work for you but it's the easiest to use traffic shaper I know of.

Checked out the software you linked to but it only shapes internet traffic as well surely there is software that will limit windows file sharing speed?

Are you sure Netlimiter only works on Internet traffic? Admittedly, their website doesn't really give much information, but from what I can tell, it works on all network traffic. It even says it monitors LAN traffic if NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled, which it is by default. It filters based on application.

Did you actually install it and try it out?

yes I installed it. I went through the rules but could not find any reference to lan traffic only lan to wan or wan to lan. Will check again but pretty sure there was no lan traffic shapping.
