    Internet connection problems

    Hi there,

I am having problems with my internet conenction, it keeps randomly dropping every so often, and then comng back up. I do fair amount of online gaming, and obviously this causes problems when I am in th emiddle of a game, and then suddenly I drop the connection.

It happens both on wireless and network cable connections, and in three different places, my house, my uni and my friends house.

Here are my specs below, and thank you in advance. I will be glad to answer any questions you have for me.

Welcome to the forums, There are a few things you can try: power cycle the modem and make sure that your drivers are up to date, the other thing is how old if the laptop?

    Thanks.

The drivers update themselves, and I am not sure what you mean by power cycling, but I will look it up.

Surely it wouldnt happen in more than one place if it was the modem?

The laptop was bought in October, so it is new enough.

    POWER CYCLING A MODEM

    • Shut down all the computers on the network
    • Pull the power cords out of the backs of the modem and router
    • Wait 15 seconds (counted "one thousand, two thousand...")
    • Put the power cord back into the modem
    • Wait 2 minutes
    • Put the power cord back into the router
    • Wait 1 minute
    • Start the computers...
