Can't Join HomeGroup

I've read several posts about this already but nothing has helped. I recently upgraded my vista desktop so I could use HomeGroup with my laptop. Both computers are now running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. At the moment, they are both plugged into my Belkin Play N600 Wireless Dual band N router.

Here's what's going on:

-I can create a HomeGroup from either computer but neither computer can join it
-When I run the troubleshooter, on either computer, it keeps telling me "All Homegroup computers must have the correct time," however, both computers do have the correct time and time zone (I even tried synching both w/ the internet time).
-I tried recreating and joining HomeGroup w/ all firewalls disabled... nothing.
-I tried recreating and joining HomeGroup w/ my antivirus software disabled... and then uninstalled... nothing.
-I tried reinstalling my router firmware and reconfiguring the router based on what a tech told me... nothing.
-I've made sure all the necessary services are running, that IPv6 is enabled, and that all the advanced sharing settings are correct... nothing.
-I've verified that both computers are on the same network and it's set as "home"... still NOTHING!

I've spent wayyyyy too much time trying to figure this stupid thing out . So, if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know OR, if you know a different way to access files through the network (other than Homegroup or public folders), I am ready to look into other options.

hi i am sure some one with a lot more knowledge will be along however i remember reading some where that if your passwords are the same it could cause a problem, maybe you could try a work group instead.
As for the time issue check that your bios time setting and the desktop time's are the same it may pay to check that the router time is correct.

If you desperately need to transfer files or use files you could try a remote desktop something like VNC(free version)

Go into windows firewall and allow home group in and out to each compuer and make sure your netbios ports are open so your compters can connect for file and printer sharing. Make sure password protected sharing is on in you advanced network and sharing center....and you may have to manually share the folders in the homegroup their not just openly shared automatically....from my experience...
