wireless connection issues with win7 help PLZ!!!??
i just got a new computer with windows 7 home premium on it and i get my internet through a wireless connection via a netgear WG111v3 USB wireless adapter. the adapter was working fine with my old computer which was running on XP sp3. but now i've been having issues with staying connected. my connection keeps dropping for no obvious reason, and when its not dropping its varying in connection speed. one minute any site will load instantly, a couple minutes later i have to wait several minutes for a site to load only to get a "couldn't find server" message or other error messages. it's really quite annoying to pay for high speed internet and to be having these issues.
i've scoured the web, i've tried everything i can think of. so far i've...
-tried different channels through the router
-reset the router
-reset the modem
-tried letting windows set up the software onlly to be told windows couldn't set up the drivers, and to use the installation cd
-i've turned off the power saving settings for all USB ports etc
-i've checked that all the drivers are up to date, and they are. i just bought this adapter a few months ago and it even states on the box "compatible with windows 7"
basically i've tried every obvious solution and to no avail. i had an issue before where i would connect to my SSID, and there was another SSID called NG_Profile that was exactly the same as mine, and they were both set to "Connect whenever network is in range" so i thought maybe it was going back and forth trying to connect to them both since they were the same and both always in reach. so i disabled that option, and still nothing. i've now rid myself of the NG_Profile, but my connections still shotty.
i'm only maybe 10 feet from the router. my connection always comes back but its almost pointless because it always slows back down and then disconnects again.
is there anything i can do for this? maybe a default windows 7 setting i need to change or something? i have a feeling its a simple fix that i just haven't thought of or discovered yet. please help!? this is driving me insane, it literally has my blood pressure up ha
EDIT: i read your sticky, i've tried the batch file, and it worked for maybe 15 seconds XD, now my connection is still going in and out. i'm trying to attach the file you've requested as well but its not letting me attach anything :/
