Connected to router but not internet

    First post - Hi :)

I have a problem that has been going on for a while now. My internet will be fine for hours but suddenly I will lose connection to the internet but I will still be connected to the router and can access the router page. When I diagnose the connection I get the message "DNS isn't responding".

When this happens it isn't only my computer that loses internet, every thing in the house does (laptop, iphone, xbox 360).

Usually after a few minutes it will fix itself but this is very annoying as I am into online gaming.

I am connected wirelessly to the router, as are the iphone and laptop. The 360 is connected to the router through a homeplug. My router is a D-Link.

Yesterday I updated the wireless adapter driver but didn't help.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks.

You already pointed to the problem...but then you were trying things elsewhere to solve it. If you can always access your router's page, that means the problem has to be occuring past your router. Most likely, it means you have a flaky cable modem or the line into your house isn't of the best quality. Either one should be directed to your ISP.

    That's your best option.

I would power cycle your modem or whatever type of device your ISP gave you first, as that's usually the first step in their torubleshooting. Then, if that doesn't work, I'd call them up. If your computers are hitting the router, they they have no network issues.
