    wifi issue

I'd like to start by mentioning, I'm computer challenged. I am not up to any of your computer knowledge, PLEASE be patient.
I received an ipad for my Birthday, 3 weeks ago. I haven't been able to use it yet.
I purchased 2 wireless routers, being told a monkey could install them. This monkey returned the 1st- it HAD to be defective, wouldn't work. My newest is a Linksys E2000. After speaking with my internet provider, connection is fine. So, I called Linksys. The customer service said I don't have wifi capability. Why?? I just had this computer upgraded with windows 7, all new drivers and paid $400.00!!! How do I determine if this is correct and if it is, how do I fix the problem? When I hook up the wireless routers, it does state my computer doesn't have wifi. What are my options?? Thank you SO much!!!
