XP to Win7 Net use question

I have set up a pswd protected lan between several home computers. Since only 1 computer has Windows 7 I don't use homegroups but rather set them all up the old way using an account on each node for each user I want to share that node.
Ok. my question is,
I can access my shares on the Windows 7 machine from my XP machine by going through a file manager and clicking on the workgroup name etc. But is is slow, always has been, was on XP also. So... on all my XP machines I speed it up with a net use batfile such as
::begin batfile
net use \\DesiredComputerName\Acctname.logon
@echo off
echo To Exit out of shell
pause
exit
:end of batfile
====== But ...for some reason (even though I can see it thru the file handler) the net use is failing only when accessing the Windows 7 machine.
I have doubled checked all my spelling etc. I can't figure it out.
The error first says "no such account name", then when I type the acct name again it does give me a chance to type in the pswd but then it just hangs forever?
