    upload issue

Win 7 64bit premium: smaller files 20-50mb upload to adrive, youtube etc no issues. Somewhere over 100mb but for sure in the 250mb range they all fail. Adrive just says "error" youtube says "unknown error" in all cases they seem to upload at a phenominal rate and then fail either at about 55% or seemingly timeout at 99%.

I disable Norton internet security firewall/antivirus w/o benefit.
I transfer same files to laptop (running 32bit premium) they upload much slower across wifi but through same router and they succeed everytime.

I did a system resore to 3 weeks ago before I noticed the problem. No difference.
I reset modem/router despite success with laptop. No change.
Again, small files no issues. Even large batches over 2gb but consisting of small files succeed too.

I called suddenlink they say they are not limiting uploads and my signal strength looks great.

Seemingly unrelated item. When I went to transfer the files to the laptop via thumb drive I got an error on my 16gb drive saying "no longer connected" with same LARGE files. Small files transfer very easily. Happens on both 16gb thumb drives even after formatting. But works ok on 8gb thumb. Only when using usb ports on front of the case. If I use my usb hub (plugged into rear of pc) all drives work w/o issues.

    Any ideas?
    Hardware in my profile.

    Thanks

    Shawn.

Did you simply right click disable norton internet security? or did you completely uninstall and clean the machine before trying the uploads again?

Simply right clicking the the norton internet security does not remove/stop all services from running against internet based traffic. This is due to the fact that right clicking and selecting disable can be triggered by script/code, thus norton secures itself by not completely shutting down and stopping services from such a command.

Would booting into safe mode work to accomplish this?

Even in safe mode Norton should be operational. Plus, there are a lot of services that are disabled in safe mode (and safe mode with networking support). I'd just uninstall Norton completely.

It sounds like you might be having driver issues. Have you considered uninstalling and reinstalling your NIC drivers, and also uninstalling your USB hubs then rebooting and allowing them to be rediscovered?

I considered uninstalling and reinstalling usb but since my keyboard/mouse are usb that becomes a problem. I uninstalled all that I could then had an issue where I uninstalled the port my mouse/keyboard were on. need a way to uninstall them all by a batch or something then force a restart.

I am currently in safe mode with network support and in Safe mode I am getting very slow upload speeds but it is working. I have 1MB/s upload speeds(per my ISP) but when I have the issue I described above it appears like I am getting like 20-50 MB/s which I know is not correct. so something is seemingly accelerating the speeds. a 400MB file takes like 15 secs to upload before it fails. and currently says it will take an hour to upload. not sure it is that bad 12% has taken about 4 minutes.

update: worked in safe mode but does not work otherwise. reinstalled all drivers. cannot uninstall usb drivers b/c of mouse/keyboard issue ideas?
it appears to be working but I guess I have to wait out the hour to see if it goes to completion.

still having the issues all drivers reloaded.

I have zero issue on my 32bit laptop. I have resorted to copying the files to thumb drive then uploading from laptop.

I'm not sure it is norton since I have norton running on both systems and one works.
Also the 64bit system always ZOOOMS to completion and then seems to time-out but the laptop (32bit) plugs along slowly and always uploads without issues.
    ideas?

It sounds like my problem. Do you have Atheros adapter and try turning task offload to off at adapter settings

I meant the adapter from the computer. Is it with cable connected to the router via Lan? Check at Device manager the network adapter and at advanced settings task offload to off. I had problem only when uploading. Downloading and surfing normally on the web worked ok. When I tried to upload via wifi from other computers and phone everything was fine.
I am not sure if this causes your problem but give it a try because it is very common (at least for that Atheros adapter) in Win7 x64.
