Windows 7: stupid troubleshoother

stupid troubleshoother

I was unable to go on the internet for some reason.So i tired to use a trouble shooter.Then at one point it says
"an unexpected error has occurred.The trouble shooting wizard can't continue"

what is wrong with my net and trouble shooter?
Using laptop.

Update your system specs, so we don't have to play 20 questions about your hardware and software configuration.

Possibilities: viruses/trojans, corrupted drivers, corrupted OS.

Could be a host of things like Kegobeer mentioned. Possibilities in order of probability:
-Bad IP address
-Bad NIC driver
-Whatever your computer is connecting to, is having issues connecting to the internet (try traceroute)
-Firewall issue
-Trojan/Virus
-Operating System woes
-The internet is down...
