Direct connection cable with a camera IP & W7

    Hello,

I have some trouble to connect to my camera IP (E50 Ranger-SICK IVP). I was on windows XP before, and everything was going well. Now that I have a W7, I can't set up the configuration of my pc to connect to my camera.

What I have seen is that after setting my configuration in W7 as in the XP's OS, I have got a No network access. I can't either ping my camera and my computer itself using is its IP.

    My camera IP is 192.168.0.5.

On XP, I have set up only an IP adress and mask (192.168.0.2 & 255.255.255.0) and it was working correctly.

What's the probleme in W7 for this style of connection?

    Thanks for your help,

    Paolo

Do you mean that you cannot access the internet as well as your camera, with your computer after setting it up to the same configuration as you had in XP? It would be helpful if we could see a simple diagram of how you have connected everything up on your network.

    Hello wilywombat,

    Thanks for your fast answer,

In fact, the camera has got its own network card. I don't need to access to it via Internet.

    The diagram is very simple:

    [CAMERA-IP] <---------------CABLE-----------------> [PC]

Other things I forgot to say, I've also tried to disable the firewall in the case if the problem was coming from it. But it wasn't the case.

Paulo, maybe there are new drivers specifically for windows7 available on the manufacturers website? Have a look there and get them if available.

    Hello wily,

I have tried something else to try to restrict the probleme.

In fact, I can't set a ip static to my computer even in my internet network. I have set up my configuration to the network configuration(ip/mask/passerel/dns). I have used the same configuration than my other laptop (in xp). So I'm sure that there is not mistake with this configuration. But it doesn't work.

(diagram) PC --- router -- INTERNET

I have to try one more thing to eliminate the fact that there is a probleme with my network card: Configuration in DHCP. But I can't do that now at work. I have to tried it at home :/.

So my question is: Is there something I miss& have to do when I want to set up a static ip in W7? (desactivate dhcp or something like this?)

    Thanks again for your interest.

    Wily,

I've found how to resolve this problem. Now, everything work fine!

For information, I'have download the latest driver of my network card and installed it. After this, the problem was still the same. I had to desinstall totally my network card and re-install it with this same new driver. After this, the same configuration that I've done from the beginning work.

My internet network configuration works (static ip + mask... dns..)
My camera IP configuration works too (static ip&mask)

I hope this will help other poeple because I've seen that many had the same problem with W7 while trying to set up a static IP.

    Thank you again!
