Problem with wifi connection, can a card get suddenly damaged?

Have a notebook with win 7 64 bit and a Gigabyte GN-WS30N card.

It has been working fine, also after a fresh install of win 7 with sp1. After a reboot today i have connection issues. Sometimes i can see my network name and connect, but it fails after writing the password.

Now it does not find any wireless conenctions. Device manager says everything is working, i can see it in network settings but repair does not work.

Tried uninstalliong the device and reinstall from windows but no luck.

Strange that it quit working after a reboot.

    Hi Cixoos,

Did you restart due to installing SP1 or has it worked since installing SP1?

It worked since installing a fresh image with sp1. Today after a reboot it had that mark in the tray icon that it was not working.

Even had problems seeing wireless networks, did see mine 1 time but it failed to connect. Strange thing, no networks available in the tray icon, but inssider could detect mine. All this after just a reboot.

During and/or before that reboot were any windows updates installed other than SP1 and did you install any software to that matter?

I would possibly try a system restore if you have a restore point prior to this issue to see if that helps.

    Got it working,

Tried two system restores but the machine just booted up with an error that restore did not work.

So reseated the wifi card and it works, strange since it was not loose and the machine has not been moved.

I make acronis images along the way of a fresh install and keep the two latest when all essential programs are up and running. Never use system recovery really, found out now that none of them worked.
