    Router question

Right now I'm connected through the internet using my AT&T DVR in my room, the main AT&T router is located in my downstairs and my DVR is connected to it, I plug my ethernet cord into the DVR and to my PC so I'm directly connected. I want to connect my xbox 360 to this same connection so that I don't have to connect it via wireless (lags me)

here's my question, is there a way for me to split this connection between from my DVR to my PC & xbox 360? here is what I tried, if theres a way to make this work let me know

I have 1 cable going from DVR --> WRT54G router port labeled internet
Port 2 on the WRT54G is plugged into my PC
Port 3 on the WRT54G is plugged into the xbox 360

using this method I don't actually get internet on my PC, it does not connect or detect it at all

is there a way to make this method work?

System specs if needed for some reason:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    AMD Athalon(tm) 64 X2 dual core processor 6000+(2 CPUs) ~3.0ghz
    4GB ram

Just so we're clear, before we begin, is there another cable plugged into your router that goes to the wall, and then to your ISP/the Internet, or did you unplug that cable to plug in your XBox360?

If you are getting your internet from your DVR box.. you have to stick the cable coming from your DVR box to the WAN port of the Router...

If the DVR box doesn't sent out IP's automatically using the DHCP, you may have to static IP your router to pick up the IP address from the DVR box.

If you are getting internet from the DVR box.. the DVR box may be a gateway, so you have to set up two gateways...

    DVR: 192.168.1.1
    Linksys: 192.168.2.1
    As gateway LAN address

I've fixed it.. I had the cord going from the DVR to the WRT54G router plugged into the port labeled "Internet" I plugged it into one of the number labeled ports and now everything is connected just fine

    thanks!
