Unable to find wireless networks - no conections are available

    Hello,

Since a while ago, I tried to connect my laptop to any wireless network available around my neighborhood, but I couldn't find any. I tried connecting with a DSL cable from my friend's Pc, but I couldn't connect to the internet. So i tried setting up a "Dial-up Connection" , I followed the instructions, i restarted my laptop, but didn't work either because I needed a password and username from the internet provider. After that, I tried to look for other people's wireless networks again, but this box appeared:
"Not connected. No connections are available"
I used the troubleshoot option at the bottom, but it said "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem". I tried turning off my Windows Firewall ("Home or work (private) networks" and "Public Networks"), but the problem is still going on.
Also, I tried setting up a new connection or network -> connect to the Internet -> Wireless -> Then the same message appears again ("Not connected. No connections are available").
Can someone help me how to solve this problem? (to turn on the option to find available wireless networks again)
    Thank You

    -Joseph

    Hi sucardegi

Your modem is passworded thru your isp, so you have to put the password into the laptop before you can connect to internet. Very seldom will you find any open wireless networks in a neighborhood there all passworded

Well, firstly, I would suggest investing in a dsl/cable/whatever is available, rather than trying to mooch of your neighbors. [/moral advice]

You would need to connect to his DSL Modem/router, rather than to his PC. His PC doesn't generate a connection to the internet.
