    MTU

What is MTU and should it be disabled or enabled in the router?

    From Google what is mtu

You can't disable it, only change it's size. The Win 7 default should be left alone unbless you have a good reason to change it.

I can disable mine.....on my routers web based page. This has nothing to do with the OS just the router.

Thanks for the link...I did google it but no exact answer to my question.

MTU, or maximum transmission unit, specifies the maximum packet size permitted for Internet transmission or ( How much data should be sent in every transmission). You shouldn't really need to change it, the routers default should be fine.

And i'm guessing by disable you mean change to manual and adjust the values yourself? Personally i wouldn't change those things unless you know exactly what you want, if the values are wrong you could slow down network traffic.

they say that 1500 kilobytes is the optimum to be at... anything less will slow the network down but it will also be more of a guarantee that files won't drop... the higher you put it at... the more chance that there will be packet drops during routing.
