Are you connected to a physical connection on the router? (wired) or wireless?

Also how is your nephew connected to the router wired or wireless?

Also try reseting the router and see if the samething happends, to reset just unplug the router wait for 30 seconds or so and plug the router back in.

Let us know,
Ryan

Do the following from both computers:

Click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as show, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.

What I want to see is if you both have hard coded IP addresses and if they are the same.

When I press "Connect or Disconnect", it pops up an infobox saying "You are currently connected to: xnetwork" However, there is no option to disconnect from the network. This is extremely frustrating; apparently I'm blind, but I've tried disabling and re-enabling the adapter to no avail. ...

Network disconnect
After a period of several hours my computer disconnects from the internet. It still shows a good connection in network sharing center. I have to reboot to reestablish connection. Any ideas for the cause to this problem? I have a 3 year old Dell Inspiron 1720.
