New PC wont find Xbox 360

    Windows 7 Ultimate

Built a new PC, everything works fine except one thing. Cant get it to connect to my xbox.

It shows up when I look at my Network Map, but it isnt listed under Sharing Options as a device.

I have every sharing option I can find allowed and turned my firewall and antivirus off.

One odd thing that I have found is that under Run<services.msc Media Center Extender Service will not stay allowed. I can change the properties to Automatic and then start the service but if I go back and look, it will be disabled again.

My router settings should be fine because it worked fine on my XP machine and my Windows 7 laptop. Even works in linux.

I'm not too sure about this but I think you have to add the XBox MAC address to you network to allow access. It's what I had to do to my Wii

Try looking at this link: Enjoy media from your computer

If you want to use Windows Media Center to connect to the Xbox try this link: Xbox Support | Use Xbox 360 as a media player

Also what firewall software do you have?

Well, what I posted was for allowing access to a wireless/wired network. After doing some searching on the net I find out that the Wii does not allow such support at this time to connect directly to a PC on a network. So you might want to check out XBox websit and see if that's the case there as well.

Thanks Ryan but unfortunately I have already tried all of that. I just have the Windows Firewall right now but like I said. Its disabled.

I just dunno. I have looked through at least a dozen threads on the subject. I just cant figure it out. Everything is allowed and its in my network map. Its just not showing up in my streaming devices. WMC cant find xbox. WMP cant find xbox. Xbox cant find pc.

Ridiculous that 2 Microsoft products have so much trouble communicating.

I really think it goes back to the Media Center Extender Service in services.msc. It just wont stay running. I keep turning it on and setting to automatic but when I go back, its disabled again. Everything elsi is fine.

    Firewall- off
    Streaming- allowed
    All services- allowed
    Windows media player streaming-allowed
Router- UPNP and Multicast, both allowed
    Network map- shows xbox
    Streaming devices does not.

Ok well I found a fix. Sort of.

Plugged in a wireless usb adapter. Xbox popped right up. Everything works fine.

Now, obviously, I would prefer a wired connection. Since I am using the same network, homegroup, and settings for wired, and wireless. What could be the problem?

    edco76,

Since it works by using a wireless connection,

I would check your wired IP settings on your computer and on the Xbox 360. This could be a IP address issue.
