Network Printer not shown in tray (notification area) while printing.
Hello everybody. I am a new member of this forum and I am glad to be here.
I have a Windows 7 x64 setup and my problems is the following. I decided to post, since i didn't find a thread about this problem.
I have a DSL 2mbps cable network, which is shared between my x64 bit setup and my brother's x32 bit setup (both windows 7 ultimate).
We have an HP Deskjet D4200 printer, which is connected to the x32 bit Windows 7 computer. It is a plug and play device, the system detects and installs the appropriate drivers automatically. No extra HP software needed.
I enabled and connected the printer, as a network printer, to the x64 bit Windows 7 computer. It was detected and installed successfully. I can print, but during printing there is no tray icon of the printer.
I checked the network options and the "shared printers and folders" option is enabled.
I checked the taskbar and tray icon options but i didn't find any setting related to the printer. A printer icon is not available or at least hidden.
From the "start menu-devices and printers" options when i right click on printer and go to properties of the printer, i don't find any "send to tray" or any other similar option. Not even in the advanced tab.
When the network was detected from the firewall (i use commodo), i checked the option to have "access to all computers and folders related to this network".
So I would like to ask the following thing:
Could a network printer icon be enabled on the system tray? Did I miss something? Should the printer be marked as shared appart from the detection and installement via network?
Thank you very much in advance!
