    Windows 7 - Remote settings

    Dears,

I need the to remotely connect from Windows XP to windows 7(with the remote settings: Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure) ) enabled. And before it gives me any of my windows 7 Welcome Screen, should prompt the user on the XP machine that is trying to connect for the windows 7 credentials, just like when connecting from Windows 7 to Windows 7 with the Less secure mode in (Remote Desktop settings).

    Any ideas?

    Regards,

I have recently adopted Teamviewer to help all of those work colleagues and friends who have home pc problems and who seek me out... It is superbly easy to set up and very effective... It has a lot more facility than the other free applications of this kind that I have tried... 10/10.

Guys, when connecting to windows 7 from XP it jumps straight to the Welcome Screen login prompt of windows 7. However when connecting from Windows 7 to Windows 7 using less secure mode it prompts for the Credentials first then it gets you to the welcome screen (login prompt). My question is that is there any GPO to pops up for the XP user who is trying to remote to windows 7 to get prompted by entering a credential before allowing access to the welcome screen?

    Hi saad3000

Well I have sat and run Win 7 to XP and the other way around. Also using the full version with unattended remote access. As far as I can see the computer being accessed always shows a small popped up window in the bottom right which says that there is a link. It can be closed by either the remote accessing PC or or the user getting support.

It is there with unattended access too.

If unattended access is not being used then the person granting access needs to give the new password. Their ID stays the same, but the password seems to change with every re-boot.

Win 7 and Win XP behave the exactly the same either which way arround or between similar platforms. e.g. Win platform 7 or XP makes no difference.

I always encourage people I am giving support to only to use the Quick version. Just once, running the full version which I had set to start with boot up, I got a request for access from an unknown computer. It could have been a hacker, or someone giving support who mistyped the ID and got mine by mistake. Most of the people I support are fairly basic users... If they had the full version auto loading with boot-up and they saw that they might just grant the unknown user full access... Scary.

Hope this is the answer you were looking for.

    Cheers

Re-reading your question... I have never experienced this software going to the Windows login prompt... When I am granted access I go straight to the desktop. I suggest you go to the TeamViewer help desk with that one.

Or maybe DocBrown will warp back into this thread/timezone

    Best of luck.

I connect to both 7 from XP and to XP from XP.

When connecting to 7 from XP, which is what I am doing right now typing this, it goes directly to the Welcome screen.

When I connect to a XP from 7 or XP I get what is called the old style 2000 logon screen that has user name and password boxes.

I don't think anything is wrong. I think you are more use to connecting to XP. 7 is different.
